The Southern National Media Authority held its periodic meeting today, Wednesday, chaired by Salem Thabet Al-Awlaqi, the head of the authority and the official spokesperson for the Southern Transitional Council in the capital, Aden.
The authority discussed the developments in the south and the region in light of the current challenges related to maritime piracy affecting international navigation and commercial vessels by the Houthi militias. It also highlighted the role of the southern media in covering these developments and their political, economic, livelihood, and environmental impacts.
The authority emphasized that the targeting of ships carrying oil, oil products, and chemicals poses an environmental disaster in the Red Sea for which the responsibility lies with the terrorist Houthi militias. It called on international environmental organizations to support government efforts to prevent an environmental catastrophe.
The authority urged all local and foreign media outlets to confront and expose the terrorist and criminal approach of the Houthi militias, which the citizens in the south and the north have been paying the price for since the Houthi coup.
During its meeting, the authority approved a project to implement a field descent program to various provinces in the south in order to communicate with local administrations, media centers, media offices in the local authority, moral guidance and military and security media departments, within the framework of organizing and enhancing southern media work and its role in addressing developments and challenges.
The authority also approved several topics related to media work and took the necessary measures regarding them.
