President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Wednesday, HE Zhao Cheng, Acting Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Yemen.
At the outset of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the Chinese acting ambassador, praising the strong historical relations that have linked the People's Republic of China with our country for decades, as well as the pivotal role of the People's Republic of China in supporting the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council in our country.
President Al-Zubaidi listened to the Chinese Acting Ambassador about the details of his visit to the capital, Aden, and his meetings with the local authorities there, and the field visits that he and his accompanying delegation made to the ports and refineries of Aden, and his inspection of the Chinese consulate building, as the first visit of a Chinese diplomat to Aden since the outbreak of the war.
In the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi renewed his call to the Chinese government to open its embassy in the capital, Aden, and to enhance bilateral cooperation in all fields, noting the important role that China plays in supporting the collapsing economy in our country by promoting Chinese investments in various sectors, especially oil and gas, agriculture and fisheries, and ports.
For his part, the Chinese Acting Ambassador renewed his country's position in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the efforts of the Council's leadership in its battle with the Houthi militia, and supporting peace efforts led by the United Nations to reach a political settlement that ends the war in our country and establishes a comprehensive and sustainable peace.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad Al-Ghaithi, Chairman of the General Department of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission in the Presidential Leadership Council, Imad Mohammad, Director of the Office of the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Saleh Al-Quaiti, representative of the General Department of Foreign Affairs in the Southern Transitional Council.
