The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council stood before the results of the meeting of the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Council, the governor of the capital, Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, with the UN Secretary-General's envoy to Yemen, Mr. Hans Grundberg, and his accompanying delegation, which was held at the headquarters of the General Administration of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Aden, last week.
In its regular meeting held on Tuesday, headed by Lamlas, the Presidium listened to the proposals presented by the UN envoy, during the meeting, which was attended by members of the Presidium, Fadl Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General, and Lotfi Shatara, Dupety chairperson of the National Assembly, regarding the ongoing regional and international efforts to extend the armistice and prepare for a comprehensive political process to end the war and bring peace to the region.
The Presidium reiterated the Transitional Council firm position, which was expressed by the Secretary-General during his meeting with the UN envoy, towards efforts to extend the armistice and launch the political process, that any political process does not accommodate the reality that was formed on the ground after 2015, and to rely on references that events on the ground have overtaken, will not  be crowned with success, and it will lead to more complications and establish a new phase of conflict in the region.
In another context, the Presidium reviewed the stages of the housing project on Mayon Island in the Al Mualla district, which is being implemented under the full sponsorship and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, and the direct supervision of President Aidarous Qassem Al Zubaidi, President of the Transitional Council, which includes  Construction of 140 housing units - of which 25 units were delivered as a first stage last week - in addition to the infrastructure projects and all the ancillary services that will be implemented during the subsequent stages.
The Presidium affirmed that this project, and the previous development and relief aid provided by the UAE to the people of the liberated southern governorates, had a great impact in overcoming many challenges and unusual humanitarian conditions that the country is going through.
In its meeting, the Presidium also stood before a set of developments in the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the south, praising in the context the great efforts made by the community committees in the capital, and their role in working among the community and their contribution to working with the security authorities and citizens to maintain security and public tranquility in residential neighborhoods, affirming its rejection of all attempts aimed at weakening its role for which it was established and diverting it from its path, and warning suspicious parties not to follow  this direction.
At the beginning of its meeting, the Presidium listened to the monthly report submitted by a member of the Presidium, Dr. Mona Awad Bashraheel, General Supervisor of Training and Rehabilitation in the Council, on the performance of the Training and Rehabilitation Center of the Council and its activities during the month of January. It also discussed a number of other issues related to organizational work of the Council bodies and took the necessary measures in this regard.
