The Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council held its periodic meeting today, Tuesday, headed by Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Council, Governor of the capital, Aden.
The Presidium stood before a number of topics included in the agenda of its meeting, foremost of which was the report submitted by the Southern National Dialogue Team at home, which included a review of its overall activities during the month of January, the results of the meetings it held with the southern components and personalities, and the ideas and visions that were presented during the meetings, in addition to A set of proposals and recommendations to reach consensus that pushes towards the unification of the southern ranks.
In this regard, the Presidium renewed its praise for the great efforts made by the southern national dialogue teams at home and abroad to unite the southern national ranks and unify the word, noting that the response shown by the southern components and personalities and their responsible handling of the calls for dialogue confirms their respect for the culture of dialogue, difference and diversity within the framework of one goal and a common destiny for all the people of the South.
After that, the Presidium stood before the latest developments on the national scene, economically, politically, militarily, and security, in the light of the analytical monitoring report submitted by the Decision Making Support Center of the Council, which also included a number of recommendations and proposals to deal with these developments and address their effects and issues arising from them.
Economically, the Presidium welcomed the cabinet’s decision to form a committee to study the decision to raise the price of the customs dollar, as well as the administrative court’s decision to stop the implementation of that decision, renewing its firm position not to accept any decisions that harm the citizen and multiply his suffering and difficult living conditions, stressing in the context that reviving the economic situation begins with real measures to dry up the sources of corruption, rationalize unjustified spending in many non-vital sectors, and strengthen the principle of transparency and accountability.
Militarily, the Presidium renewed its demand to quickly transfer the military brigades in the military district of Hadhramout Valley to the confrontation fronts against the Houthi militia, and to hand over the security and military reins to the people of Hadhramout, as stipulated in the Riyadh Agreement and consultations, renewing in the context its firm position on the side of the people of the Valley, and supporting them and enable them to manage the affairs of their regions administratively, militarily, and in terms of security.
At the end of its meeting, the Presidium discussed a number of topics and issues related to the work of the Council and its various bodies, and took the necessary measures in this regard.
