CAC Bank - Aden Branch, in partnership with the Lebanese University, organized a workshop entitled "Financial Literacy" as part of the Global Money Week events, which took place from March 18th to March 24th, 2024.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Deputy Executive Vice President of Banking Operations, Mr. Rafik Al-Qabbati, who gave a speech outlining the main objectives of Global Money Week. He stated, "The goal of Global Money Week is to ensure that all segments of society have knowledge about dealing with the banking sector, financial services, and money in general." He emphasized that CAC Bank, under the leadership of Mr. Hashed Al-Hamdani, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors, has been working for some time on promoting financial literacy. One of our main strategic goals is to achieve social inclusion, and to achieve this goal, we needed to reach out to all segments of society. Therefore, we have established partnerships with all Yemeni universities, especially colleges related to the financial and economic sectors."
He added, "We are facing significant economic challenges, and all reports indicate that if the situation we are experiencing in Yemen were in any other country under war and a collapsed economy, the banking sector would have collapsed from the beginning. However, the banking sector has managed to withstand the challenges, difficulties, and many obstacles, and this resilience has been accompanied by significant resilience from various segments of society."
At the end of his speech, Mr. Rafik Al-Qabbati expressed his gratitude to the Lebanese University for the excellent organization and thanked the participants for their commitment and interaction in attending the workshop.
Following that, the workshop began, presented by the trainer and consultant, Mr. Osama Abdulqader, Quality Management Manager at CAC Bank. The workshop lasted for two hours and covered several important topics, including the concept and importance of financial literacy, the meaning of financial inclusion, the concept of the importance of savings and its types, saving methods, the purpose of saving, and methods to reduce expenses.
During the workshop, the trainer, Osama Abdulqader, discussed the concept of savings and lending groups and their importance for children and youth. The banking products and services provided by CAC Bank, "Pioneers of Banking Leadership," were also reviewed.
Dr. Maria Al-Sharmani, Head of the Training and Qualification Sector at CAC Bank, participated in presenting the workshop, which was attended by more than 50 male and female students from the Lebanese University and other colleges.
The workshop witnessed a high level of interaction from the participants, who raised several inquiries and questions about financial inclusion, financial literacy, and banking operations, leading to fruitful discussions about everything related to Global Money Week.
