On the evening of Wednesday, 3rd of Ramadan, the 28th edition of Ali Mohsen Al-Marisi Ramadan Football Championship commenced at the Al-Habishi Stadium in Crater, Aden's capital city. The tournament is held under the prestigious sponsorship of CAC Bank, the Cooperative Agricultural and Credit Bank, organized by Aden Football Association, and under the patronage of the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, and the Youth and Sports Department of the Southern Transitional Council.
Ali Mohsen Al-Marisi Ramadan Tournament is considered one of the most important football championships held during the blessed month of Ramadan. The 28th edition of the tournament features 26 clubs representing various southern governorates. These clubs include: Aden Unit, Al-Talah, Shamsan, Al-Rawda, Al-Shaala, Al-Mina, Ahli Aden, Al-Jazeera, Al-Jalaa, Al-Nasr, in addition to the participation of other clubs from outside the governorate, such as Al-Salam and Thamar, Yafa'a, Al-Husseini, Al-Tiliah (Lahj), Hassan, Erfan, Shabab Al-Mahfad, Al-Fajr Al-Jadeed (Abyan), Al-Mukalla, Shualah Al-Makhshen (Hadhramaut), Al-Tadamon, Shabab Morkha (Shabwah), Al-Nasr, Shabab Zabid (Dhale), Shabab Al-Ghaydha, and Qushn (Al-Mahra).
Mr. Shakib Aliwah, the Deputy CEO of CAC Bank, commented on CAC Bank's sponsorship of the 28th Al-Marisi Tournament, saying: "The bank's contribution to sponsoring the tournament and other various events comes as a continuation of its pioneering role in serving the community and supporting various social activities, as part of its social responsibility towards the community as a whole. In the opening match of the tournament, Al-Talah achieved a 3-1 victory over Al-Nasr Al-Dhale. Adel Abbas scored a penalty goal, and Faisal Mohammed and Karim Hamdi also contributed goals for Al-Talah.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the head of the Transitional Council of Aden, Muammar Al-Saqaf, Abdul Hamid Al-Saeedi, the advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Jadan Al-Shadhli, the Director of the Youth and Sports Office, Shakib Aliwah, the Deputy CEO of CAC Bank, Arif Hanash, the Marketing Manager at CAC Bank, Abduljabbar Salam, the President of the Aden Football Association, Khaled Al-Zamki, the Head of the Youth and Sports Department in the Transitional Council of Aden, and a number of other personalities.
