The National Southern Media Authority held its periodic meeting on Thursday in the capital, Aden, under the chairmanship of Mr. Salem Thabit Al-Awlaqi, Head of the National Southern Media Authority and the official spokesperson for the Southern Transitional Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, which was dedicated to discussing the developments in the south and the region, the Authority emphasized the importance of implementing the directives of President Commander Aidarus Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council and Vice Chairman of the Presidential Council, in support of the new Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Awad Mubarak, in a way that serves the interests of the southern citizens. It also noted the need to direct media discourse towards supporting any government directions in the process of reform, economic reforms, fiscal austerity, and anti-corruption efforts.
The Authority affirmed that addressing government imbalances, providing services, improving the living standards of citizens, and combating corruption should be the top priority for the Presidential Council, the government, and a shared interest among political parties. The Authority also discussed providing the media departments in the Southern Transitional Council, media centers, and active media institutions with everything that contributes to raising political and media awareness about current events and developments in the south. It explained that the National Authority will work on preparing a field program for the members of the Authority in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Council in this regard.
The Authority addressed several topics related to the internal and external Southern media discourse to keep up with the events in this stage and made a number of decisions and recommendations regarding them.
