Preparations are in full swing, two days before the opening ceremony of the first National Coffee Exhibition in Aden. The exhibition will take place from January 27th to 29th under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, and with the diamond sponsorship of CAC Bank, the Agricultural Cooperative Credit Bank.
Engineer Ahmed Saeed Al-Wahsh, the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, explained: "The idea of the exhibition originated from the United Nations meeting called 'One Country, One Product,' which calls on each country to choose a representative crop and then present its development plan for that chosen crop." He also indicated that Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Brigadier General Salem Al-Saqatri, chose coffee as Yemen's representative crop, which led to the idea of organizing the first exhibition in Aden.
Al-Wahsh stated that the first National Coffee Exhibition was named as such because one of its objectives is to attract the attention of supporting organizations and external funding entities for the coffee crop. This is to attract all external funding from donor agencies and supportive international organizations. He praised the role of CAC Bank in supporting the coffee crop through various financing projects and agricultural activities, such as irrigation systems, water harvesting tanks, nurseries, solar energy, seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural inputs. The aim is to empower farmers in coffee-growing regions to sustain production, marketing, and exportation.
Arif Hanash, the Marketing Department Manager at CAC Bank, emphasized the importance of organizing the first specialized coffee exhibition in Aden. He said: "The contract for the first coffee exhibition in Aden, which will take place from January 27th to 29th, comes in light of the economic importance of coffee in our country and the world, as it is a cash crop that enhances the national economy through coffee exports, which provide foreign currency for the country."
He added: "In recognition of the economic importance of coffee, the bank has sponsored the exhibition as the sole and diamond sponsor to raise awareness about the economic importance of coffee cultivation and highlight the bank's role in financing agricultural projects, including coffee production, as well as financing animal and fish projects and sustainable development projects."
He confirmed that this is not new for CAC Bank, which has been a pioneer in supporting activities and projects since 1976. The bank has also developed future plans to finance agricultural, fishery, and sustainable development projects through various credit products offered by the bank for financing these projects.
