President Commander Aidaroos Qasim Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, and Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met on Wednesday, August 31, via videoconference, His Excellency Stephen Wagen, Ambassador of the United States of America to Yemen.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the liberated governorates in light of the repeated Houthi violations of the truce, sponsored by the United Nations, and its continued mobilization of its elements in Taiz and Hodeidah, its closure of crossings, and its torpedo to bridges of the road linking Abyan and Bayda.
President Al-Zubaidi called on the United States and the international community to adopt a clear position on violations and the continuous escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias, stressing that they exploited the UN truce to rearrange their ranks and prepare for a new war aimed at controlling oil areas and disrupting International Navigation in Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea .
The president also reiterated his call on the United States of America to provide support to the Presidential Leadership Council, the Parity government, and the southern armed forces to enable them to break the arbit of the Houthi militias and confront their plans, noting that these militias will not retreat of the ambitions of control unless there is a force capable of deterring them.
For his part, Ambassador Wagen expressed his condemnation of the attack was launched by the Houthi militias on Taiz in an attempt to block the only road linking Taiz and Aden, stressing that what the militias in Taiz have done represents a flagrant violation of the international truce, stressing that the best way to address the Houthi-Iranian ambitions is to support the Presidential Leadership Council, promote harmony between its members and support the Parity government with anything will enable it to perform its duties towards the citizens .
The meeting has reviewed the recent developments in Abyan and Shabwa governorates and the efforts of the Presidential Leadership Council to stabilize the situation and consolidate security and stability in the liberated governorates, the government's efforts to complete the reforms required to accelerate obtaining the support pledged by the brothers in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to revive the economy, and the American support represented in building the capacities of members of the security forces and the Coast Guard .
