Professor Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council and Speaker of the National Assembly, met on Tuesday with Judge Afrah Badwilan, Chairman of the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority, and member of the Authority, Hussein Barjaa.
Al-Kathiri listened with hope from Judge Badwilan to a brief explanation of the Authority's activity, in continuous oversight of all government agencies, bodies, and offices, and the achievements it has achieved in combating corruption and its investigations, in various sectors of the state, and the cases and files that it has referred to the judicial authorities for investigation. In addition to a brief overview of the Authority’s external participations, as part of its efforts to develop its work tasks to combat corruption in various fields.
The Acting President of the Council stressed the important role played by the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority in protecting public funds, curbing corruption and preserving state resources, and the necessity of preserving its independence and not interfering in its work from any party, praising in this context what the Authority accomplished during the past period, it revealed many corruption operations in a number of government institutions and referred them to judicial authorities.
Al-Kathiri affirmed the readiness of the Southern Transitional Council, through its competent bodies, departments and committees, to work side by side with the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority, and to provide it with all the necessary facilities and support to enable it to overcome any difficulties that obstruct its work and accomplish its tasks in the required manner.
