President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received at his residence in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, today, Wednesday, His Excellency Yevgeny Kodrov, acting Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Yemen.

 At the outset of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi welcomed the acting Russian Ambassador, reviewing with him the strong historical relations between the south and the Russian Federation, stressing in the context the importance of the pivotal role that Russia plays in supporting peace efforts in our country due to its weight and presence at the regional level.

 The two sides discussed international efforts aimed at extending the armistice between legitimacy and the Houthi militia, and regional and international endeavors aimed at bringing peace to our country through a comprehensive peace process that accommodates the changes on the ground and puts in its priorities the aspirations of our people in the south and their right to self-determination.

 The two sides also discussed the results achieved by the southern armed forces in their war against terrorist organizations during Operation Arrows of the South and Arrows of the East, during which our armed forces liberated the most prominent strongholds of al-Qaeda in the governorate of Abyan, in this context, the ambassador praised the victories achieved by the southern forces in the field of combating terrorism, stressing that these victories will be an important factor in the consolidation of security and stability in the region.

 In the meeting, the acting Russian ambassador renewed his country's position in support of efforts to end the war and establish peace, stressing that Russia will spare no effort in advancing peace efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution.

 The meeting was attended by Mohammad Al-Ghaithi, Chairman of the General Department of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission in the Presidential Leadership Council, Imad Mohammad, Director of the Office of the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Saleh Al-Quaiti, representative of the General Department of Foreign Affairs in the Southern Transitional Council.
