The National Southern Media Commission issued on Sunday a statement of condemnation and denouncement of what the southern journalist Khaled Mohsen al-Kathiri, amember of the Supervisory Committee of Seiyun consultative meeting for journalists and media professionals in Hadhramout Valley and desert, has exposed to on his way to the first conference of the southern journalists and media professionals, which he was called by Seiyun Primary Prosecutor to appear before a senior court on issues of press coverage under a declaration to attend and respond to the complaint against him by a government official.
In its statement, the Commission indicated that it had followed up the summons that was submitted to journalist Khaled Al-Kathiri, stressing the importance of taking into account the distinguished position of colleague Al-Kathiri, his patriotic stances witnessed over the course of the southern revolution, and his professionalism that enabled him with various media outlets and made him a source of confidence to work as a local coordinator for a number of Arab and international media.
From this standpoint, the National Commission of Southern Media expresses its condemnation and denouncement of the process of summoning the journalist, Khaled Al-Kathiri, by the prosecution in Seiyun and prosecuting him in the publishing case, based on the Commission’s permanent position in supporting the right and freedom of the press, warning against an attempt to destabilize the unity of the Hadrami society through the actions of the authorities in Hadhramout Valley, which is trying to hijack the will of its people by targeting Hadrami national cadres and personalities, warns of attempts to deal unjustly, arbitrarily or maliciously with the people of Hadhramout in general and journalists in particular, in violation of international covenants that support freedom of opinion and expression and freedom of the press.
