Dr. Nasser Al -Khubaji, a member of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council, met the head of the Negotiating Affairs Unit, on Wednesday, in his office in the capital, Aden, Nazir Abdul Karim Al -Tahish, Director General of the Executive Unit for Taxes on senior taxpayers of the Tax Authority, during which a number of issues related to the collection of resources and, in particular, the taxes owed on the large segment of merchants.
The meeting also discussed and evaluated the role of the General Administration of Taxes in the process of collecting resources during the period of self -management, difficulties and obstacles that faced the progress of its work during that period.
During the meeting, Dr. Al -Khubaji urged the Director General on senior taxpayers of the necessity to start developing emergency and exceptional plans and programs for the process of mobilizing and collecting resources of the senior taxpayers, in the various governorates of the south, in anticipation of any upcoming political changes, especially with the weakness and paralysis that afflicted the government, and its inability to carry out its main tasks in running the state affairs.
Dr. Al -Khubaji stressed the need to prepare for a new and comprehensive stage to manage the southern governorates politically, economically, financially, and militarily to achieve the high goal of the people of the south to restore their state, pointing out to the importance of benefiting and evaluating the previous experience in self -management, and overcoming the obstacles and difficulties that occurred during that experience.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji stressed the need to activate the role of offices and administrative units in the capital, Aden, as the main centers of state institutions, and to stop the new structures that the government is trying to impose with the aim of withdrawing financial and administrative tasks and powers from official offices in the southern governorates, especially the capital, Aden.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji praised the efforts made by the Director General and all the office’s leaders and cadres in the process of controlling and regulating the process of collecting resources and implementing the applicable tax laws.
