Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council, Speaker of the National Assembly, met on Thursday with the Governor of Abyan Governorate, Major General Abu Bakr Hussein Salem.

During the meeting, which was attended by the head of the executive body of the local leadership of the Transitional Council in Abyan Governorate, Hassan Ghaithan Al-Kazmi, Al-Kathiri listened to a comprehensive explanation of the general situation in the governorate, the progress of work of the executive offices, and the efforts of the local authority to implement a package of projects to address and improve a number of sectors, including the education and electricity sectors, health, and agricultural development projects in cooperation with a number of international organizations and donors.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the directives of President Commander Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, which stipulated the removal of illegal collection points in the governorate, which met with wide satisfaction from everyone, as it was emphasized the necessity of establishing a clear mechanism to collect official legal fees, preventing any duplication in collection, and working to unify the efforts of the security services to enhance the state of security and stability in the governorate, track down terrorist organizations and disruptions, and combat crime, or any acts outside the law and order, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Security Committee, Governor of Abyan.

The President of the National Assembly praised the efforts of the leadership of the local authority and the executive offices in working to improve services in all sectors despite the difficulties and scarcity of capabilities, stressing the need to redouble efforts, coordination and joint cooperation with the executive body of the Transitional Council in the governorate to alleviate the suffering of the people of Abyan.
