Mr. Hassan Munser Ghaithan Al-Kazmi, head of the executive body of the local leadership of the Transitional Council in Abyan Governorate, met on Sunday with Captain Ahmed Kreidam, Director of the Tourism Police in the governorate’s security.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Body of the Governorate’s transition, Mr. Ali Sheikh Al-Suri, Mr. Hassan Ghaithan was briefed by Captain Ahmed Kreidem on the progress of the administration’s work activity.
During the meeting, they discussed the encroachments that affected the archaeological areas, the latest of which was Al-Qaro archaeological site in Zanzibar, including excavations, in an attempt to search for antiquities.
Captain Ahmed Kreidam pointed out what some organizations are carrying out under humanitarian cover in secret visits to archaeological sites with the aim of smuggling antiquities out of the country.
He stressed that the tourist police will stop trespassing operations and the throwing of waste construction materials at Al-Qaro archaeological site, which is considered one of the most important archaeological and historical monuments in the governorate.
Ghaithan stressed the importance of strengthening the role of the tourist police to stand firmly in the face of all infringements and preserve the history and legacy of the people of Abyan Governorate.
