The Southern Transitional Council issued a press statement by the official spokesman of the Council, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, in which he declared the Transitional Council's absolute solidarity with Major General Al-Bahsani, a member of the Council's Presidium, who suspended his activity and work in the Council's Presidium.
The statement text:
In the Southern Transitional Council, we were briefed with the content of the message of Major General Faraj Salmeen al-Bahsani, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, which he addressed to the President and members of the Council, which included his decision to suspend his participation in the meetings of the Presidential Leadership Council as a protest against the failure to decide on important issues and urgent files in Hadhramout Governorate, and the Leadership Council’s disregard for many of them.
As we express our solidarity with Major General Faraj Al-Bahsani, we call on the Presidential Leadership Council to quickly discuss issues and files related to Hadhramout Governorate, especially with regard to the security and military aspects, and at the forefront of that is the transfer of the forces of the first military district, which has become a haven for elements of terrorism and extremism, from Hadhramout Valley and handing over the task of securing and managing the valley and the desert to the people of the governorate as soon as possible. We also affirm that this matter requires urgent treatment and decisions to enable the people of the south to fully manage the affairs of the south themselves. We renew our support to the local authorities in Hadhramout Governorate, under the leadership of the governorate’s governor, Mabkhout bin Madi.
We in the Southern Transitional Council will continue to support the cohesion of Hadhramout and the south in general, and the right of our people in all the southern governorates to manage their own affairs.
