President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, dupety Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received on Thursday, His Excellency Richard Oppenheim, Ambassador of the United Kingdom (Britain) to Yemen.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the political process to bring peace to our country in light of the talks held by the Saudi and Omani delegations with the Houthi militias to extend the truce and ceasefire.
The meeting also discussed the position of the Presidential Leadership Council regarding the negotiations and concessions made by the Council in order to ensure their success, and the steps taken by the Council to put the issue of the people of the south on the right track in the upcoming political process. In this regard, President Al-Zubaidi reaffirmed that the issue of the people of the south will be placed in a special framework in the political process, according to guarantees that guarantee its privacy and in a way that meets the aspirations of the people of the south.
The meeting also touched on the efforts made by the British government to support the Presidential Leadership Council and the parity government in the humanitarian and security aspects. In this context, Ambassador Oppenheim stressed his country's keenness to continue its support to our country in the fields of food and women's development and in the security fields, foremost of which is providing support to the Coast Guard and Border Guard forces to enable them to perform their security tasks in addressing the smuggling of weapons and controlling the movement of goods entry from the sea and land ports.
At the end of the meeting, President Al-Zubaidi highly praised the British role in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the parity government, praising the great efforts made by the Royal Navy in confronting the smuggling of Iranian weapons to the Houthi militias, expressing his aspiration for a greater British role in enhancing cooperation in the field of combating terrorism and supporting the government in dealing with the problem of migrants from Africa into our country.
The meeting was attended from the British side, Peter Dalby, head of the political team at the embassy, and from the Presidential Leadership Council, Imad Mohammed, Director of the Office of the Dupety Chairman of the Leadership Council, Saleh Al-Qaiti, Advisor to the Dupety Chairman of the Leadership Council, and Zaid Ahmed Nasser from the Office of the President of the Transitional Council.
