On Tuesday, the political department of the General Secretariat of the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council ended its third annual meeting with the directors of political departments in the executive bodies of the local leadership of the Council in the southern governorates.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ahmed Omar Hussein, Deputy Head of the Political Department, stressed the importance of strengthening political action within the framework of the council's bodies in the governorates to serve the southern national project represented by restoring the southern state with full sovereignty.
Omar indicated the necessity of preserving the southern gains and not neglecting them, while working to create a broad southern alignment under the roof of the Transitional Council, and to intensify political and media work in order to achieve gains to strengthen the southern national identity.
The meeting reviewed the reports of the political departments in the governorates, and the most prominent difficulties facing their workflow were raised. The latest developments in the political situation in the south and the events that helped the southern issue in advancing and progressing were discussed.
In conclusion, the meeting came out with a number of recommendations, during which the attendees stressed the importance of activating political action and strengthening the leadership role of the political department and administrations in the governorates.
The recommendations indicated that the political action in the Council’s bodies must lead in its messages in confronting terrorism, extremism, fanaticism, warding off sedition, fighting the culture of hatred and discrimination, rejecting violence, and promoting the values of tolerance and reconciliation.
