The Southern Transitional Council welcomed the Egyptian Navy's assumption of command of the Joint Task Force "153", through the official spokesman for the Council, Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri.
The welcome statement :
The Southern Transitional Council welcomes the Egyptian Navy’s assumption of command of the Joint Task Force (153) to confront threats and challenges targeting the security and stability of the region and to complement the active Egyptian participation in the Combined Maritime Force (CMF), whose tasks are to combat smuggling and confront illegal activities, especially terrorist activities in Regions (Red Sea - Bab al-Mandab - Gulf of Aden).
The Council welcomes this step, stressing that Egypt's assumption of command of the force stems from its pivotal role in securing the region and sea lanes and combating terrorism and piracy in a way that enhances regional and international peace and security.
